What did YOU do today?

Today I was quite the busy bee. I started my day off with waking up late (7:45 is late to me now, sigh..), got out of bed, and started my errands. I even forgot my morning coffee which probably explains my headache. :) I went to Michaels, Toys-R-Us (explanation on it's way), Kroger, and Walmart. I then rushed home and started on Project Number 1, my adorable nephew Ricky's birthday cake. His party is Saturday and he wanted a Toy Story themed cake with Buzz and Woody. Toys-R-Us was the purchase spot for Buzz and Woody figurines. I wasn't feeling very enthusiastic about molding those guys.. Problem Solved. I will post a picture of the cake and final project tomorrow!

Project Number 2: Finish my raised beds. Which I did!!! Check. Here's the finished project.

Ya'll are all superrr impressed right? You will be when I have fresh peppers, tomatoes, and squash! :)

Project Number 3: Thank you notes. These things get so piled up with all of the planning, parties, ect that comes along with a fast-approaching wedding; I had to play catch up today. Here is my note station. Right smack dab in the middle of our home/ breakfast table nook.

Project Number 4: Homemade macarons. Yes. I am attempting the elusive French Macaron. I wanted to order some of these for the wedding dessert table but soon realized they were as much as $4.00 a cookie at some bakeries. I decided, "What the heck! I'll make them myself!". Looked at a recipe, you have to cure egg whites over night. You then have to weigh your ground almonds and the rest of the ingredients. Most baking recipes call for measuring cups not food scales. We will see how these suckers turn out.

Sooo.. Mid blog writing I decided to try them. Here they are.

The weird stuff on the top is graham cracker crumbs. Wanted to add a little pizzazz. They turned out pretty good. I have a troubleshooting website that I have to go over because the "feet" didn't properly develop and the insides were a little hollow. None of this means anything to yall does it? Ok. Done :)

With the Rasberry filling.
Josh and Brady both really liked them. They don't have the culinary taste-buds that are required to tell the difference between macarons and oh let's say meringues but we'll say this was a success for my first time!

Easter Dinner Party

Last night we hosted our dinner club at our home. It was a super fun time with some great friends! The theme I chose was "Breakfast for Dinner". I think everyone really enjoyed all of the food; I didn't have any leftovers :). I put together a yummy fruit salad, two different types of quiches, hashbrown casserole, homemade pancakes, an Easter dessert bark, and chocolate cupcakes.

I made this simple bark on Wednesday afternoon. I keeps very well and takes little effort. Start out with one bag of milk chocolate chips and one bag bittersweet chips. Place in bowl over a pop of simmering water (i.e. a double boiler for those who know these things).  Watch carefully as chocolate burns very easily. Once melted, spread thinly over a sheet of parchment.

While the chocolate is cooling, cut up all of your other fun ingredients. Easter Oreos, Mini "Robin" eggs (mini whoppers), Peanut Butter M&M's (or choice), and I used edible Easter grass.

I also spread a little melted white chocolate before spreading all the fun ingredients. And Whalahhhh!! Easter Bark. Yummy!

I set up a Bloody Mary and Mimosa station. I think everyone appreciated having all of the ingredients at hand. Make sure to have a couple different types of hot sauce, some sort of Cavenders/ Tony Chachere's seasoning, olives, and of course celery!

And the Easter cupcakes! A last minute addition. Nothing too fancy but festive of course!

Happy Easter to all!!

Bachelorette Party

This past weekend me and eight of my closest and dearest peeps threw down in the big D (Dallas, duh). We ate and drank our way through the city and had the best time! Shout out to my friends who made it such a great and memorable weekend!

Friday night we ate at the super fab Mi Cocina in the West Village. Everyone told us this location was "the one" to go to because the other is apparently the family diner. And we don't like families on bach parties... We are definitely not family friendly, just kidding ha!!!

Mel, me, and Kelly. My blonde goddesses..

Meghan, Ginger, and Shea looking lovely!
Saturday we went to Northpark mall to find swimsuits for me for the Honeymoon. No luck, so we went to the pool at the W which sits atop the 16th floor. "Wet" as they call it. Side note- the spa is called "Bliss" and the gym "Sweat". Anyone ever seen the Saturday Night Live skits with Stefan??? I'll attach a video so you can see.. Verrrrryyy similar premise.. Stefan clip

Girls at the pool. Love the background!
Love them!! Gingo and Whit in the front. Shea, Meg, and Cheryl in the back.
Dinner Saturday night! Super fun and yummy!
After dinner we went back to our hotel and went upstairs to Ghostbar. It was chic and had plenty of black dress wearing bachelorettes and gel-heads to watch. There was even this super duper un-classy (skanky if you will) bachelorette who was dancing, groping, and other words I will not put on my PG blog, with a man that I am pretty sure wasn't her fiance. After all of us had lifted our jaws off of the floor from watching her, we went on with our classy dancing and sipping and had a super joyous time. I will leave her with a super inspiring quote: "Sin makes its own hell, and goodness its own heaven." - Mary Baker Eddy. I'm sure her marriage will be oh so joyful.

For the pre-dinner lingerie shower, I made some super cute and yummy iced sugar cookies. I love baking and will use ANY excuse to make these cookies. So fun!

Bustiers, bra & panty sets, shoes, and crowns.

More cookies!
Know anyone in Little Rock looking for custom cookies? Send em my way!

Until next time friends-

Love love- Sarah
