Moving mishaps

You know those times in life when everything and I mean everything seems to be a total mess? Not a crazy oh-my-gosh my life is ending kinda mess just the crap-I-spilled-coffee-on-my-white-blouse kinda mess. You can guarantee that kind of mess will happen when you move. It has to. It's a right of passage to moving into your big kid house.

So... What had happened was.. (and I know that previous statement is terrible grammar but it's really funny sounding when Meghan or I say it. moving on...). We were to close on our house July 5th. Which was a Thursday. Brady and I took off work around 3 p.m because we had to go home to grab some uber importante paper work as well as attach the white-trash trailer to B's truck before we drove our happy butts all the way over to West Little Rock to sign the bank papers.

We were those people you curse on the interstate... Yep...

When I get to the house (first because I'm a better driver ha) the garage door will not open. B finally drives up and we realize our freaking electricity is turned off. After trying to break into our own home (with the help of our super sweet older man neighbor) I call the electric company. Some BIA answers the phone and then puts me on hold for ten minutes. I get B to call as well because I am super impatient while waiting for public servants to do their easy tech jobs in the most inefficient ways.. He finally gets through and hands me the phone.

BIA:  "Well ma'am they turned off your electricity"
Me:  "Yes, I am perfectly aware of this as I am standing outside of my house stranded because of it. You need to send someone out here to turn it on"
BIA: "I can do that when the next shift change happens"
Me:  "When is that?"
BIA:  "4:30"
Me:  "Well you are going to have to send someone out here now because we need it on no later than 5 pm because we are closing on our house. Can you manage that?"
BIA: "I can't guarantee anything"
Me:  "Well you are going to have to guarantee that considering this is your mistake"

Then she interrupts me... the nerve!!

BIA: "Actually you don't know that this is our mistake. You could have told them to do that."
Me:  "There is no chance in hell that I would ever tell anyone to turn off my electricity and considering we asked for you to change the billing name on the account over on the 6th of July and it is the 5th I am 100% certain this is your departments mistake and not mine. Now if you don't have someone out here to fix our electricity in the next 30 minutes there will be hell to pay.

Click. The End.

Next installment: tomorrow.. :) Happy Tuesday folks!
