Walk On.

Tonight we are going to a concert. No it's not a U2 concert (nod to the post title.. B hates U2 though so I guess it's a good thing). The band we are seeing is called Walk Off the Earth. I admit I have listened to a couple of their songs.. and probably wouldn't recognize any song as theirs.. and don't really know what to expect buttttt I'm excited. Their cover of "Somebody I Used to Know" is amazing!! Really though, you have to listen to AND watch it because you wouldn't believe that five people can use one instrument to play a song but 'tis true. They did it.

I can only imagine how many hours it took them to rehearse this and then the many times that one guy (or girl) messed up only to redo the video another 38 times. Yikes!

The show is at Juanita's in downtown LR and I'm super excited about going with all of our peeps! See you at 6:15 for dinner Jenna, Josh, Megan, Courtney, Hunter and Blair! :) Partayy on a Thursday night! Let's all say a silent prayer that out-of-college-Sarah can channel 20-year-old-Sarah and party until midnight. Game on!

Praline Key Lime Pie

Oh my gosh this PIE!! This recipe is to die for and relatively simple. My mom made it for dinner Saturday night of our Memorial Day Holiday Extravaganza and we devoured it!

The recipe is out of the June issue of Southern Living, a magazine that I love with my whole heart.

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cup chopped pecans
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp jarred caramel topping
2 (14 oz) cans sweetened condensed milk
6 egg yolks
2 teaspoons Key lime or lime zest
1 cup fresh Key lime or lime juice
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp powdered sugar

I need this right now.

Prep:

1. Preheat oven to 350. Bake pecans in shallow pan for 8-10 minutes until toasted.
2. Stir together graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of toasted pecans until blended. Press crumb mixture into bottom and sides of greased 10 inch pie plate.
3. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until slightly browned. Remove from oven to wire rack and cool for 45 minutes.
4. Sprinkle remaining 3/4 cup pecans over bottom of crust, drizzle caramel over pecans.
5. Whisk together condensed milk, egg yolks, lime zest, and lime juice. Pour over crust.
6. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes until almost set. (The center will not be firm but will set up as it chills). Cool completely (about an hour)
7. Beat whipping cream at high speed with electric mixer (or by hand if you need the exercise) until foamy, gradually add powdered sugar and beat until soft peaks firm. Dollop or spread over pie.

People I want to punch in the throat.. Blog.

This blog is hysterical!!! I've been a reader since before Christmas when her post about over-achieving Elf on a Shelf moms went viral. I think it was actually a top search on Yahoo or some bs but I could be making that up.. Today while perusing the "Got a Punch" tab I found this comment from JT1222:

Parents who put the family stickers on their cars. And they usually have their kids name and their football number / cheerleading team. Do we not hear all the time about protecting our children? Do you think the internet is the only dangerous place for your children? Um, hello strange pedophile lurking in the parking lot, my daughter's name is Jackie and she is #12 on the Central City Jr. Varsity soccer team. We also have 2 cats so you can strike up a conversation about animals.

And I almost fell out of my chair laughing because it is SO TRUE!!!! It is probably those exact parents that are super type-A control freaks about their child's welfare and then they go and put details about their pride and joys on the back of their Toyota Siennas.

Never will I... Drive a minivan. I would rather walk with five children on my back than drive the dreaded minivan... Duh duh dummmmm

Soooo...

We got the house! Wahoo!!

It's funny when you buy a house.. You start to feel like such an adult- and I am definitely not old enough to be an adult. Right? But seriously, Brady called me and said, "we got the house". Immediately my heart dropped, then fluttered back up north and then my chest got tight. Is that a normal reaction? My sister said it was but I'm not so sure.. Anywho- Can't wait to have a huge house party on our 900 square foot deck(s)!

Happy Wednesday folks!

Randomness, Ramblings and Runons

Today is Tuesday. And today I don't have any fun stories to share, or fashion/beauty/recipe advice so today you get some incredibly random thoughts and musings on my end. I didn't want to subject you all with another Pinterest slide show of home ideas. You. Are. Welcome. :)

1. I'm so excited about memorial day because I get to go to the river and the lake! Lucky me!! What are your plans?

2. I haven't exercised in ohhh.. about two weeks. For realz. I haven't been running or even doing lunges while brushing my hair. This could get scary. Hellooo swimsuit season!

3. My job is super fun but sometimes I get totally crazy clients. A little background on "the event". We have a Readers Choice Awards each year and each year we print off posters for the winners and runner-ups. It's awesome. One of my territories is Eureka and so I call on all sorts of places including Place X. This is what we will call it... So two sisters own Place X- and Place X was a runner-up. These two sisters aren't the sharpest tools in the box and I've had to deal with them and their issues since February. I have sent two sets of posters and issues to them and they never received either package. Last week I had a nice little phone call with one of these sisters and she asked me, "So how many times have you SUPPOSEDLY sent these posters??". I cannot deal with snarky people when they are snarky for no damn reason so I replied, "I have supposedly sent them twice".  I need to be more patient I guess...

4. We are making an offer on The House tomorrow! Wahoo!!

5. I've put my cookies up on Etsy and I've already gotten two orders. TWO orders people!! Don't worry, I'm not quitting my day job. :)

6. My birthday wish list is going to be all home goods and total randomness. A couple of the items: a new hairdryer, a new towel wrap, a large siesel area rug, a cow hide rug, new white towels, and what else.. I'll keep ya'll posted in case you want to send me something just in time for June 26. :)

7. May 14th was our wedding anniversary and we didn't eat our wedding cake... Since we got married in Fayetteville we obvi left the cake topper there in my parents' apartment freezer and totally didn't think about it until that day. This was a golden opportunity to go to Silvek's bakery in the Heights Kroger for a mini cake. It was the best cake I have ever eaten and I will definitely have the same for my birthday. Got it B? You're reading this right?

8. Another birthday mention- I want need a pinata for my party. Actually, I probably won't have a party because my birthday is on a Tuesday this year but I still want a pinata.

9. I don't think I reported to my blogger friends how sunburned my back side got from our Mexico trip. I am still peeling and serious face- it was/ is terrible. Even with SPF 55 reapplied every hour or so I fried on that sandy beach. I really wish I could show you all the picture of just how bad it was but it might be slightly pornographic because gasp!! the picture shows my butt. And I don't think Brady wants me to plaster that all over the internet. :)

I guess that's all for today. Nine points seems like a random enough number to be satisfied with. Happy Tuesday friends!

House Hunting: Unrealistic Pinterest Ideas

Yesterday we looked at a dozen or so houses in Little Rock. It was a great experience and we found a house we LOVE!! Now we just have to figure out if we can afford it and still afford to eat. I'm not that interested in tremendously cutting back our lifestyle habits and don't think I could live off of rice and beans for any period of time so we'll see how it all pans out. When you think you found "The House", you start envisioning yourself living in it.. start brainstorming all the new furniture you are going to need ect... This is where Pinterest is helpful, it is also the Devil. Seriously.

Yes, I would love to have a built in cutting board. A total necessity!

Our future home also has a HUMONGOUS downstairs bonus room off of one of the guest rooms. It is gargantuan and I need this couch now. And the walls will HAVE to be painted this gray and I might also pick up that rug to complete the look. Normal right?

The house also features over 900 square feet of two story treated deck space so the above picture is totally happening. We are blessed with two fathers that are incredibly handy and love to build stuff so Brady will have a grand time with the Bills and this project. (both our Dads are Bill, convenient!)

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was busy busy and I cannot wait to put in an offer on the house- I'll keep yall posted. Say a little prayer that the family doesn't realize their home is underpriced per square foot and that they don't get a realtor to tell them that. :)

Coffee is my wake-me-up. Tea is my hug-me-up.

I just love that little quote that I used for this blog title. It's super true though. I have one cup of coffee after my shower in the mornings and then maybe another cup at work(if it's been a hectic morning or I'm super tired or if Brian from work makes something delicious). But tea- tea is another experience. And I'm not talking about the Lipton instant kind though that is good for a Southern meal :).

My newest obsession:

Raspberry Riot Lemon Mate and Bueberry Bliss. Mixed together they are delish without being sweet.. Love!

The lowdown...

That's right.. Our house sold... Today. After being on the market for six days... That's great news but now we gotta find a new home or in the words of my father, "ya'll are going to be homeless". Yes, Dad, we will...

If you see any great houses in Little Rock send them our way! :)

Webster for Target

Pre-Mexico trip I went on a typical Target run for the basics.. Face wipes, sunscreen, snacks, magazines.. and came back with two dresses, a robe, and a men's hat. All Webster for Target.
This dress is eyelet and has a split back. It is super cute on and I wore it to dinner one night in Mexico.

Another look at it.

I also bought this dress for work. Super cute and easy to throw on.
Loved this robe! It's actually a brighter pink and has flamingos on it- same pattern as shirt below.

This was cute on and would have been perfect with my cream jeans and fun wedges for a casual night.

Duh- a fedora for Brady.

Also cute- I have way too many maxi dresses and on a 5'3 girl sometimes they can be overwhelming. Especially in such a bold pattern.

I think everyone should go to their local Target and stock up on some summer staples. They are too cute to pass up!

Holy crap no one told me...

So no one tells you when you are trying to sell your house you have to keep it impeccably clean.. Like with floors swiffered, mirrors Windexed, and yards mowed.. Or maybe they do but I surely didn't think it would be so damn hard. That little company based in Texas that keeps calling me to "approve" showing times doesn't realize I just got home from a vacay or that I have 5 dozen cookies laying around my kitchen on cookie sheets. They also don't realize I have two very large fur babies that I have to pick up and find babysitters for when they need to show the house for 15 minutes..

All bitching aside- I'm THRILLED they are showing the house! Can't wait to find out next home.. Lord that's another panic all its own. Yikes! We better find that dream home- and ASAP!

Who wants to come help me clean?

We're back!

We arrived in the good ole U.S. of A. yesterday around 5:30 p.m. Of course we were in Dallas and we didn't actually get back into Little Rock until 10:30 but either way- it was good to hear English being spoken and Gotye on the radio versus Spanish and mariachi bands (segue- anybody else super duper tired of the "Somebody I Used To Know" song? XM radio loves it on everyyyy station.. I was hoping it would fizzle out over vacay. Nope.) Wow Sarah- way too much afternoon caffeine for ya- I am so damn a.d.d. right now...

I will just go ahead and warn you about the photobombing that is about to occur- don't fight it though- that's what you nosy people ask for in blogs- personal info and pictures.

A sandy foot picture? No one's ever taken one of those before- I promise my feet aren't that strange looking in person- or are they?

We seriously rednecked it up in Mexico. I brought a raft for the pools and Brady wanted to use it in the ocean. This was his main source of entertainment since I was reading this. Review soon..
Another source of entertainment. Tequila!

I usually don't feel comfortable asking strangers to take pics. This is where elevators come in handy!

And husbands- please forgive this ridiculous Sarah-montage. I didn't realize an iPhone could have such a fast shudder speed.
One pic turns into two.. with two very long arms...

Three...

Four..

Five.. and Stop.. No, seriously B.

Dessert is always my fav part of any meal. Oh and wine..

That drink was gross.. I don't like those sugar frozen drinks.. The vodka water's were good but I guess it's kinda hard to mess one of those up..

And Brady before the sunburn.. You would think 55 spf would protect but boy were we wrong.. Poor B.

Our mini-anniversary-vacay was a blast and we decided to try to do it again and again. Who wants to come with us next year?

Happy anniversary hubs! You're the best guy eva and the best person alive to put up with all my BS. Anyone who can travel through airports, countries, and in taxis with me is a saint with a patience of gold.

Happy Monday friends! Hope the weekend treated you all fabulously!

Ido a México

That means "Gone to Mexico". Yeah- I know Spanish... Actually not really.. I know how to Google is more like it. But seriously.. Brady and I leave on a flight to Mexico at 7:15 a.m. tomorrow morning. For all of you wanting to rob my house- now is the time. We will be gone until Sunday. :)

Have a great week friends! I promise to take bunches of pics and share them with you later. I know you are all just dying to see someone else's mini vacay pics.

Adios!!

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

I was perusing through people.com  this a.m. and caught a glimpse of their favorite gowns from the 2012 Met Gala. There were some fabulous dresses and some fabulous misses but the common component of many were feathers. I love me some feathers on a cocktail dress or just an outfit in general so some were incredibly striking in my opinion. Here they are.. in descending favorite order. :)

Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen.
She always looks beautiful. Always.

Diane Kruger in Prada.
Gorgeous!

Kate Bosworth in Prada.

Amy Poehler in Fotini.
No thanks.. I personally think she is way too short to rock peplum and
a fit & flare skirt all in one dress.

Beyonce in Givenchy Haute Couture.
Really "Most Beautiful Woman alive 2012"?? This is what you wore to the Met Gala??
Trainwreck...

What do you think? Who wore feathers best? Any other favorite dresses?

Girl Crush.

I have a full on girl crush on Grace Potter. For all of you who don't know who she is, here's a pic of her beauty.

And her legs..

And our matching dresses...

I have this dress in gray & it makes me feel special that we share a sense of style. I'm a freak. I know.

And a guitar..

And being a hippy with a tambourine...

And with a collar necklace...

And with her boyfriend...

Not a Kenny fan.. Honestly I think she can do better... :)

As you can clearly see- She's G'OR-GEOUS! Also, her newest song is amazing! I have a confession though.. Brady has always thought that I would love her band 'Grace Potter and the Nocturnals' and has tried numerous times to get me to listen to them.. I never did..

One, because it takes me a while to get into new bands.
Two, because I if is isn't my idea first I resist it ;).
And Three, because I assumed she looked like a dirty hippy. (This is not a bad thing per-say just a self-absorbed reason to not love a girl band...I know.. I'm awful)

I'm not proud that I have a new-found love of a band simply because the lead singer is insanely beautiful, but it's true. And on this little blog I vow to tell the truth.

New album comes out June 12. YES!!!  http://www.gracepotter.com/
